A Message from Joseph Mapa, President and CEO, and
Dr. Jim Woodgett, Director, Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute:
It is with profound sadness that we share the news that Dr. Tony Pawson has passed away. Tony was one of this country’s most respected and accomplished scientists, a truly brilliant researcher and leader at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, and a dear friend to so many of us here at Mount Sinai.
Tony’s research revolutionized our understanding of the way our cells communicate and the treatment of a range of diseases. In the many years he dedicated his studies into deciphering the basic machinery of cellular organization, he became one of the world’s top 25 cited scientists in his field.
We know that you will join us in expressing our deepest condolences to Tony's three children, Nick, Catherine and Jeremy.
As we mourn this tragic loss, we hope that the memory of Tony’s extraordinary contributions will serve as an inspiration as we continue to pursue his lifelong work of discovery and making our world a better and healthier place. |
